How to cultivate your mind and reach your goals
The question may seem incongruous, and in some ways it is. Yet many people in society have big muscles and small minds, and vice versa. Too many people focus on the physical being, forgetting the non-tangible being. Why is this so? Let’s think about it for a moment.
Let’s go to the gym. We will see athletes doing exercises on stations with dumbbells and bars. All this to put the muscles in different positions so that they grow and become stronger.
How to develop muscles
We do this by challenging our muscles, stretching the pain level and convincing the mind that we can pull a little more with each set.
As you can imagine, the result is pretty obvious. People around us notice the change in our bodies and talk about it, or better yet, the mirror tells all. We feel proud, healthy and ready for the pool and at the slightest heat, we take off the swimsuit.
However, we can’t talk about muscle growth without talking about the symmetry that must exist between the muscles.
Too many athletes work in an uncoordinated manner, resulting in an unattractive result. Look at athletes who have big pecs and big arms for small feet. Or ink, arms of different sizes. Which is unfortunate and not pretty.
Now it’s time to cultivate the mind
When was the last time your mind was put in a difficult situation where the only way out was to take responsibility? When was the last time you felt the pain and, at the end, the joy of victory and courage in the face of adversity?
Your brain. Your mind. They all need weight to grow too. It’s the only way to succeed. With exercise, it gets bigger, stronger, smarter and wiser every day. The future of your business, your family depends on it.
Life begins when we step out of our comfort zone.
We can dream all our lives about what we want to do or be, but it’s no use if we don’t do everything to get there. Stepping out of our comfort zone means crossing the learning zone and conquering the panic zone. It means expanding our worldview, but it also means changing our habits.
But stepping out of our comfort zone also allows us to expand and grow. Stepping out of our comfort zone is therefore essential to living a rich and fulfilling life that allows us to develop new abilities and even take on challenges.
How to develop the mind
The muscles of the mind are developed when we dig within ourselves to find solutions. By digging, I mean doing what it takes to overcome obstacles.
It could be reading 50 blog posts in a day on a topic to gain a relatively deep understanding of it. Or having to overcome a major loss (business) and not giving up. Another example, having to work on a case you don’t like with a difficult client. It all depends on the case.
As we like to say at Saturday Bootcamp, “your head is in charge”. Now tell me, do you have strong mental muscles?
