The concept of a company creating its own brand is a fairly common idea today.

Most, if not all, businesses have a brand, and they make money by developing those brands.

So why can’t people do the same?

A personal brand is not much different from a business brand. Instead of marketing a store or product, you are marketing yourself, your experience and more.

Creating a personal brand has many benefits, both personally and professionally, and can open many doors for you in the future.

In this article, we’ll take an in-depth look at what a personal brand is and why it’s worth developing.

What is a personal brand?

If you type your name into Google, what comes up?

If the answer is “nothing”, you probably haven’t spent much time developing your personal brand.

When I type “Prince Youlou” into Google, the entire first page of Google SERPs is devoted to my online presence and the late artist Youlou Mabiala, a great artist from Congo who made history. It is one of my challenges to surpass his SERP.

In addition, you will see my professional pages, my social media pages and various websites where I have been featured, such as adiac-congo, Vox, CongoDigital, etc.

You don’t even have to click on any of these links to understand that my “brand” is related to my startup Niochi, web development and design, and my interventions.

Indeed, I have taken the time to develop my brand through my online presence. I created social media profiles on all relevant sites such as LinkedIn and Twitter.

I created a descriptive author bio on my website and spent time creating blog posts and then looking for publishing opportunities on other websites where I can also create an author bio.

My voice and photo are consistent on all of these sites, so there is no doubt that it is the same “Prince Youlou” no matter what link you click on.

Some people choose to create a logo and theme for their personal brand (like Oprah, for example) and they make sure that these logos and colors are also consistent on all pages where their name appears.

Developing a personal brand takes work, and it won’t happen overnight. But once you do, the benefits are endless.
