This is what you don’t know about words

Human beings are governed by emotions. And one of the ways we express our emotions is through words. So we have to control them.

Muhammad Ali is known by the phrase “I am the greatest”. And today, that’s what we all say about him. That is the power of words. Isn’t that clear?

Sam Samurai, a Congolese artist, came up with the phrase “the most handsome man”, after a few weeks, no one was looking at his face anymore. We all accepted it, because he said so. What do you tell people about yourself?

Let’s be careful with our words, my friends.

A lack of tact or eloquence in our choice of words can be detrimental to us. It can cause us to send the wrong message and receive the wrong feedback.

It also has to do with the definition some people give to certain words. For example, for many people, “consequences” are always bad. So asking a friend, “What are the consequences of an action?” can start an argument. Because he thinks you don’t expect a positive outcome.

Another example, as similar as the first, is the word “criticism.” Some people think that criticism is always negative. It is not uncommon to hear people say, “He always criticizes me. He’s jealous.”

In spite of the democratization of education and accessibility of basic books such as dictionaries and more, we can notice that there is still a lot of work to do.

Real bosses are leaders and leaders communicate well

The best idea pitched with the wrong words can sound very bad and vice versa. As bosses, we need to be aware of the words we choose to introduce ourselves or pitch our ideas.

It’s not the easiest exercise, but it’s one that deserves every effort. Because a true boss is a leader and a leader is a good communicator.

Out of 10, how would you rate your communication skills. Tell me in the comments.
