Giveon : When It’s All Said And Done… Take Time
I really recommend this album to anyone who enjoys gorgeous vocals, original song-writing (in my opinion at least, Heartbreak Anniversary is a beautiful and poetic example of this) and great melodies. The production is minimalistic, which is not bad, as I think it adds to the atmosphere Giveon is trying to create on this album.
Giveon hits the notes and delivers a smooth pop album, but instead of just being “another” pop album, it has more of a feel to it and goes deeper into his emotions
Something that has been clear across all of his music is how nice Giveon sounds vocally on songs. His voice is really soothing and has a quite distinct feature that I can’t really explain; it’s like it sounds rough but also smooth which makes no sense, but that is what I hear.
The futur of R&B is in good hands with guys like him and SZA, H.E.R, Daniel Caesar and more.
The last two years have been very good for the artist, he made headlines by appearing on Drakes’ best song “dark lane demo tapes” with “Chicago Freestyle”, and later in 2021, Justin Bieber’s number 1 record “Peaches”, where he again delivered a strong verse.
The songs that stood out to me the most were Last time, Stuck on you, and Heartbreak Anniversary.
